Preceding the text are two manuscript title pages (one on blue mourning stationery signed George du Maurier) and an unpublished Editor's Preface (7 p.), each page of which has been canceled in pencil and which is followed by the penciled note "This to be rewritten altogether." The Introduction as published is not present in the manuscript.
The manuscript (MA 115-116) is unbound; the drawings are bound in three volumes (MA 117-119).
