Originally folded in a sheet of paper labeled in the hand of Sophia Hawthorne or Rose Hawthorne Lathrop that reads: "Ivy from the old Bridge of 'bonnie Doon'-over which Tam o'Shanter rode, with the witches after him-June 30th 1857."
Forms part of MA 3400, a collection of Hawthorne family letters and ephemera.
