Fragments of a flag collected from Stirling Castle by a member of the Hawthorne family [realia].

Originally wrapped with a paper note in the hand of Sophia Hawthorne or Rose Hawthorne Lathrop that reads: "Bits of flags from the armoury of Stirling Castle given by the armourer on the 7th July 1857 Tuesday during our visit."
Forms part of MA 3400, a collection of Hawthorne family letters and ephemera.
Consists of a few tiny shreds.
