Summary
A short novel written by Williams at the age of twelve; in his autobiography he described its genesis: "An urge which had been forming for months suddently crystallized. I wanted to tell a story, on paper. I walked down to Fewster's, bought a wad of foolscap, sat at the kitchen table, and wrote across the top, in flowing scroll, 'HEARTS OF YOUTH,'. . . One well-behaved cliche glided after the other on oiled wheels."
