Summary
Published pp. 120-121, with three omissions: (1) [beginning] her mother will doubtless be interested to hear of their doings. Reaching Folkestone, they had a brief chat with Dr. Grant and his stepdaughters, the Miss Sydneys [into p. 120, the rough crossing and the trip to Boulogne, with John and Mr. Ruskin breaking into raptures, "which amused me very much"]; (2) [end of para 1, p. 121] "Mr. Ruskin who was there for his health spend the morning with us he had been in Paris last Thursday and said there was nothing to be seen but soldiers" [into p. 121: her impressions of Boulogne, where Mr. Ruskin left them, and the trip to Abbeville. How the peoples here react to the Revolution]; (3) [conclusion] the innkeepers being heavily taxed. After 1:30 dinner, she plans to see a Fair. She is delighted with the cooking (dinner menu); the rooms are beautiful and there is a fine garden. "You would really be delighted to see how happy John is in the places he likes and the raptures he is in quite amuse me."
