Summary
Published pp. 118-119, with two omissions: (1) commenting on news of Perth received in letters this morning, she writes on paper illustrated by a Venetian scene which George Hobbs brought to amuse John this morning. She is glad George will see the Gadesdens. Her Aunt Jessie's faintings are alarming; (2) both George and Anne are with her when she walks in the country--today to Bemerton, the parish of George Herbert. John is drawing a map of Palestine and has the Housekeeper's kitten for amusement. There is no chance of his going to the Highlands: "he shrieks with horror whenever I mention it." But he dislikes England almost as much, and will surely take her home for a visit whenever he thinks it is time.
