Summary
Published p. 100, with two omissions: (1) she thanks him exceedingly for agreeing to settle Miss Rutherford's account. It grieves her the more to ask him to do so because of his present position. But he will never have anything more to pay for her, and she will try to make it up to him at some future time. When they reach London, she may be able to do something for George. It would relieve his anxiety about George, and would also save some expense during the next year. Please send her the money to give Miss Rutherford. She will do all in her power to lighten his cares, and would have paid Miss Rutherford instantly had she thought it to her father's best interest. Having her married will reduce his expenses. John hopes that prices on the market will soon rise, if not, her father should not be discouraged but should worry as little as possible in view of his agreement with Mr. Burns. She is glad that the money they threw was of such service; (2) she will write to George next; farewells.
