Published pp. 66-70, with editorial changes and three omissions: (1) he would have given "anything" to have seen her laugh and blush as Sophia made an opening for Mr. Tasker; (2) while he was out, Lord Stavordale and Simcon, M.P. for Isle of Wight, got in and took down all the pictures. He returned to find Lord Stavordale "lecturing upon them like myself," and thought of Effie as he hung them again; (3) [P.S.] regard to members of her family.
