Summary
Published pp. 37-38, with two omissions: (1) she has been horseback riding with "snob" and a young Indian who is a law student at Cambridge. The Gardners are "not of so refined a class as the Ruskins," but they are very kind and she thinks she will enjoy herself; (2) Mrs. Paget will probably not mind her refusing the invitation because they are very sad about Mr. Potter's death and are not sure that the Parkers are coming.
