Summary
Saying she has been much too engaged to thank her mother for note, book, buttons; Dr. Grant is staying here with his two stepdaughters, the Miss Sydneys--very nice girls, and heiresses. She is buying a shawl and only one dress, for which she will pay when she gets home, 22 yards of silk being needed. The Gadesdens have said no more about the concert, but Mr. Ruskin took her, with John, to the French theatre. Yesterday she called on Carry Potter--a painful visit. John will visit Lord Somers next week, refuses to visit Lady [Ruthan?], but will be with Mr. MacDonald in Crossmount.
