Summary
Saying that although she grieves for Effie's disappointment in being unable to spend Easter with the Parkers [see B.51], she will be happy to have "Euphemia" with her through the holidays. She must also "candidly say" that she considers it to Effie's advantage to remain at Avon Bank for two years without re-visiting Scotland. Effie "has endeared herself to us very much by her artless, affectionate disposition and her wish for improvement."
