Saying she has "been wearying very much for a letter from her mother," who has not written since George became ill. She hopes her mother will like the cuffs she sent. Her plans for using the gift of a sovereign for presents to the Miss Byerleys and the departing governesses. The girls in her room, who "all say Effie is so much prettier so I am obliged to give in." She has sent Mary's cuffs.
