Apologizing for not having written earlier but explaining that "I have been so taken up with killing Hares and partridges"; telling Philips of his plans for planting more trees on his estate: "I hope to walk with you under the shade of them which will make me truly rejoice in my planting"; and writing of his reluctance to return to London: "I woud [sic] willingly see the year turned before I come to London and have already found all the effects of good Air and Exercise in my Health."
