Summary
Asking leave to write to Lord Townshend's secretary; telling him that Cardinal Grimani, the Viceroy of Naples, has just died of an "inflammation in his bladder, occasion'd by his urine being detained by the gravel"; describing the process for determining his successor: "The [Collaterale] opened upon his death the new Sealed commission which they alwayes keep for fear the death of a Vice Roy should occasion disorders, and they found that the Count Carlo Boromeo, a Milanese is Vice Roy pro interim"; writing that the Duchess of Modena (Charlotte of Brunswick-Lüneburg), who is the sister of the Emperor's consort, has also recently died, of "an Apoplexy": "She has left a numerous offspring, & was bigg with child when she died"; adding that he has no more news at present.
