Summary
Thanking him for two letters and for a reproduction of a manuscript; mentioning that Kenneth Clark has sent him the catalogue for a large exhibition of Italian manuscripts currently on view in Rome; saying that he is puzzled by Alida Monro's assertion that a Thomas Hardy transcript has appeared on the back of a British Museum ticket, "as I knew that TH had not been near the BM for years when he made it"; adding that he will pass on Adams's correction to Duckworth; confirming that he did express concern about "Mrs [Anne] Haight's projected Life of B.G. [Belle da Costa Greene]"; writing that he does not want his letters back, "but I should like them to be available to whoever does a memoir"; concluding "I still despair of living to see a finished copy of an Hardy Bibliography!"
