Summary
Informing him of the government's decision determining that money "issued by warrant of the Treasury of 1820, to Your Lordship and the Portuguese Minister ... can only be applied to the purpose for which it was issued", and not by the Portuguese government to defray the various claims made upon it by the Portuguese Army; further stating that "His Majesty's Servants" advise the King's ambassador at Lisbon to recommend to the government of Portugal to use the money in question to defray Beresford's own claim, and those of the British officers serving under his command in the Portuguese Army.
