Summary
Writing that he doesn't think he has ever forgotten to answer a letter, but he has often put them off for extended periods of time, and assuring him that his letter has gone unanswered but not unheeded; informing him that his letter was "one of many which gave me great pleasure" as one of many expressions of sympathy he received "during my controversy on Field Sports", and noting that he that general opinion was greater on his side; stating that he cannot answer Ward's question concerning "huntresses", as he is only acquainted with two and neither of them are married "so I can say nothing as to their dealings with their husbands", and mentioning Atalanta and Mary Stuart; writing that he doesn't know much about school and "you know a pension for cock-throwing is very common - Hence the term cock-shy."
