Summary
Acknowledging delivery by Mr. Twisleton of a packet of letters entrusted to him by Landor and noting that the few accompanying lines by Landor "were not very cheerful"; mentioning that he took a walk "to where Old Gore House once was", and recollecting how his past enjoyments of the place are associated with Landor; further mentioning his visits to their mutual friend (Thomas) Carlyle, who is at work on his last volume of Frederick the Great; writing that "Dickens is busy too ... upon his new story" and that the first person he intends to send his completed book to is his "honoured and dear friend Landor".
