Summary
Informing Elwin that the Duke wishes to have it "positively settled" that Elwin will agree to write a paper (presumably on the subject of the recently deceased Lord Raglan) and asking that he write the Duke to assure him that he will; explaining that he would agree to write the paper himself, but he does not have the time, and mentioning "legal worries" arising from the death of Sir William (Molesworth); noting that the Duke is in a hurry to have it done and seems to have the mistaken notion that it can be "knocked off currente calamo"; with a note by Ford on the back page, reading "Pray write to the Duke & at some length & soon."
