Summary
Sending him a yearly report, numbers of publications of the Board of Trade, and a barometer guide "which seems to be acquiring a certain degree of popularity"; emphasizing Towson's expertise in nautical matters and asking him if he would publicize his views on the publications not only for the benefit of the Fitzroy himself but also for "the rising generation of sea officers"; pointing out that the second Number contains some "purely nautical matters - hardly admissable under the impracticable term 'Meteorologocal' -were it not that [Matthew Fontaine] Maury has established a kind of precedent by his Sailing Directions, and Physical Geography of the Sea."
