Summary
Sending him a copy of his new book (probably Elliott's "Love, a poem, in three parts : to which is added, The Giaour, a satirical poem", published in London in 1823), adding "if you have any influence or connection with the Reviewers, do use it for my benefit."; and noting that one of the poems is "a sort of child of your own ... by forced adoption", with a reference to a "horrid penance" imposed upon Montgomery by Elliott "about 2 years ago", regarding which Elliott observes "I trust, you will find that your agonies have been turned to good account, & that the poem is much indebted to you. Truly it is.", and going on to add that the other poem in the volume "is a satire, and, I dare say you will not like it."
