Summary
Asking Tomlinson to tell a patron by the name of Mr. Starkey that he will most likely have a picture for him "very much sooner" then he had anticipated, as "you say that he is not particular as to the size [and] as I have been thinking over one or two subjects that would require to be painted rather larger than many would like from whom I have received commissions."; promising to let Mr. Starkey know as soon as he has decided on a subject, although it is impossible for him to say when he will be able to begin as he is "in honour bound" to finish two or three previous commissions; thanking Tomlinson for the trouble he has taken on Egg's behalf, and promising that when he does do a painting for Mr. Starkey "it shall be one of my best pictures."
