Summary
Declining an invitation to speak on an "Irish programme" on the BBC ("In regards the Irish programme I will tell you in confidence what I shouldn't like everyone to know, that I have never shot a policeman. And this makes me so much out of touch with Irish politics that I feel an Irish evening would hardly be the ocassion for me to talk. If I shd be in favour of murder, Irishmen would say 'But where's his policeman?' if I shd be against it I shall profoundly hurt the feelings of all in authority in this country"); adding that he may "blow in to the Beefsteak [i.e. the Beefsteak Club] one of these days", and may meet Grossmith there.
