I spent several weeks in Scotland trying to nurse my poor eyes into recovering in vain."); describing his arrival at Studley Royal to find "Ld Northbrook and his daughters and the Forsters a political party plotting all day long the downfall of Dizzy."; and mentioning a trip to Longleat ("The Baths were very well and had just got into the new rooms which look splendid.").
