Summary
Giving a brief account of a reading he had given the previous evening (at the St. George's Hall in Liverpool); praising the beauty of the room in which he read and expressing his satisfaction with his audience; complaining about a "detestable" shirt button she had put at the throat of his collared shirts; enclosing a letter he received from "Helen" (probably Georgina's sister, Helen Hogarth), "from which it would appear that my unfortunate mother has everything the matter with her that she can reasonably have", and complaining that he slept poorly the night before.
