Summary
Concerning the prospective sale of a quarter share of Dickens's copyrights, shares, etc., by the publisher Bradbury & Evans to the recipient; stating that he believes the price they are asking to be too high, and pointing out that he considers the sum of £3,250, which is the amount he is asking for a fourth share of his own copyright interests, to be the "utmost" he could ask of the Chapmans, in order that they "may be equally interested in the whole issue of my books"; concluding that they must make "the best and fairest bargain" they can with Bradbury & Evans; referring to something said to Chapman in Whitefriars "concerning the future printing of the books," and stating that "If it has anything to do with the matter, you know perfectly well from me that I have no intention whatever of interfering on that head."
