Asking her to send a written account of a "very remarkable ghost story" she once related to Crowe, for inclusion in a new series of Crowe's 1848 collection of stories entitled The night-side of nature; mentioning her recent stay in Belgium and Yorkshire and plans to go to Edinburgh as Dr. Samuel Brown has been doing "very poorly there"; referring to some [spirit] "rappings" she experienced and her conviction that they are genuine, and stating that she knows "several private mediums", some of whom are "more powerful than Mrs. Hayden"; requesting that Lady Eastlake inform her friends that Crowe would be "very thankful for any authentic stories of apparitions."
