Stating that he would have sent "the 'tine'" the previous night, but that he is "afraid of 1/2 bank notes"; further discussing the transaction, and saying that he does not "choose to write to Mr. Nelson", or have Madame de Bury "brought into contact with him."; saying that he is pleased to hear that she is feeling better following a recent illnes and that he would very much like to visit her; mentioning her daughter Yetta, who is getting to be a "jeune dame", and he remarking that he has "nought to do with jeune dames"; mentioning that "every body is going out of town", including his mother and sister and the Carlyle's, who are "off to Scotland"; asking if she has met a "queer auld ... man called Lambert Bey" as he has heard a great deal about; briefly discussing mutual friends and acquaintances, and saying that he is "very triumphant about the 'Béranger' authenticity'".
