Describing his return to Paris from England, the loss of his portmonteau in a shipwreck, his visit to the Tuileries and his audience with the Lieutenant General of the Kingdom; relating a visit with his friend the Duc de Berry; news of his wife and daughter, the Comtesse de Clercy, who remained in France, and their kind treatment by the Duc de Berry; describing a tearful reunion with his daughter, Madame D'Auberville, and giving an account of her and her family; lamenting the plundered state of his property, the unsettled state of France, and the number of Bonapartists who remain in society and public life; recounting his time with De Berry and a visit from the the Emperor Alexander, the Emperoro of Austria, and the King of Prussia; relaying some gossip regarding Madame La Maréchale Ney and the Emperor Alexander; expressing his fear for his mother-in-law who has fallen seriously ill in Rouen.
