Summary
Writing to her sister-in-law to express her regret upon hearing of her present unhappy state of mind, and assuring her of her brother Charles's esteem for her as a wife; postponing a meeting; mentioning the birthday of her recipient's "little Charles", expressing her concern for her brothers, and describing the troubles and tragedies that have recently befallen the brothers of the various women of the Royal household (the four ladies belonging to this very House, & the Royal Establishment, have had every alarm & suffering that sisters can experience. The Brother of one, Miss Gomme, has had a Fever that nearly demolished him, the Brother of another, Miss Manton, has suddenly sunk down in a speechless fit, the Brother of a third, Miss Goldworthy is now confined with a putrid disorder, extremely dangerous, & the Brother of the fourth, Lady Elizabeth Waldegrave, died last week.").
