Declining to contribute to a proposed work on the subject of Arthur Hugh Clough; recounting his boyhood friendship with Clough and expressing his unwillingness to involve himself in a work which would be critical of his deceased friend; speculating on the identity of the subject of Clough's poem "To---", which appeared in the Rugby magazine; noting that Clough's early poems which appeared in the Rugby magazine are worth looking into, and respondong to a request for any letters he may have from Clough with the caveat that they would be from his "early days", as they did not correspond much later in life.
