Enclosing an impression of an illustration or cartoon taken from an unfinished plate, with humorous observations on the subject of his drawing, namely, the affront to public modesty posed by the female bathers and visitors at the English seaside; i.e. "I think the subject will be rather apropos just now - several respectable 'Fathers of Families' having written to the 'Times' ... heart-rending-letters respecting the nude-rude-audacious mermaid-like habits of the femininis at Brighton - Ramsgate &c. I believe they actually bathe without bustles! And the price of opera-glasses there is enormous. ..."
