Summary
Acknowledging receipt of a check and discussing his memories of attending several lectures on painting given in Manchester by the artist Benjamin Haydon, as well as a visit he made thereafter to Haydon in London ("He received me very kindly and took me up into his painting room the first thing, I remember that his large of Uriel and Satan was standing unfinished in his studio at the time. After showing him the drawings I had taken and taking with him some time he told me to call upon him the following morning (Sunday) I did so but I saw him no more - this was about two years before he destroyed himself."); noting that has recently sold copies of his "folio of photographs" to the Earl of Ashburnham, his brother, Percy Ashburnham, and the Dean of Manchester.
