Evidently answering a query on behalf of a prospective costomer concerning an available set of his Cathedral antiquities which he has in his possession containing a set of good impressions of the plates, with some explanation of his decision to not print the engravings too heavily, "I must observe, however, that few of them are dark or heavy - as I have adopted a system of having rather light & clear drawings, consequently engravings. Rather than dark effects, my object is to explain & define architectural forms & details; & I am persuaded that if your customer is an architect, he wil prefer the useful to the showy."; enclosing a catalog of his works.
