Summary
Asking whether he still wishes to be sent the "Brittany's Architecture" he requested in a letter ten days previous; informing Mogford that he has referred the firm of Winsor & Newton, to whom he owes money, to him as a reference, and lamenting his inability to pay them or to find work ("I have not the means to pay them at the present time for really I do not, I can not find work nor lessons, nor sell drawings ... Oh I am so sick, so broken hearted with my position that I am almost callous to whatever may happen, but though I can not help my poverty, I should like people to know I am honest & if you should see Winsor for God's sake tell him what you know of me & perhaps he will leave me to pay him as soon as I can."); expressing his fear that he is "getting into difficulties" which he may not be able to get out of, having been unemployed for almost 4 years.
