Summary
Explaining that he was too ill to reply earlier to a letter from the recipient and that he has relocated from his former residence in Woodbridge to his current place as "private tutor to about 8 or 10 pupils between the ages of 6 & 10"; noting that his current employment has released him "from the immediate necessity of intruding myself on your kind & friendly regard", while expressing the hope that should he leave his present situation he might again apply to the recipient for "patronage & assistance", although he assures him that he has is no desire to attach himself "to you or to anyone in such manner as to be an incumbrance" or to be "indebted to another for what my own exertions ought to procure me".
