Summary
Expressing his personal regret over the current state of affairs in British Guiana and Governor Smyth's deteriorating relations with the proprietors of the region; inviting him to make his recent dispatch concerning the appointment of Sir Lionel Smith as general governor of the colonies of British Guyana, Trinidad, and St. Lucia; and stressing his regard for his correspondent's zeal and ability as governor, impaired, however, in his opinion, "from an occasional failing of temper and forbearance".
