Summary
Paragraph, possibly in the hand of Anatole France, about the Farnese Palace, in Rome, written in ink as an introduction to the page proof mounted on two leaves of backing sheet below it. The page proof, with handwritten corrections, is a fragment of Pierre de Nolhac's book "La Bibliotheque de Fulvio Orsini" (1887). The fragment evokes the palace's past and the literary luminaries and scientists who convened there. It also speaks at length of the summer residence of the Farneses, in Caprarola, where the authors and scientists met when it was too hot in Rome.
