Notes
Manuscript of a poem in six numbered stanzas; first line: I remember how I loved her when a little guileless child. The first poem is followed by the a poem in five stanzas entitled "She walked in white!"
With a note in ink in an unidentified hand on the last page: By Mrs. Ferguson of Kinross.
The poem was reprinted anonymously and appeared in 1847 set to music by Isaac Baker Woodbury and words by "E.M.F", with the title "He doeth all things well, or, My sister "; it was anthologized under the title "My sister" as the work of Dr. Edward Mann Field (1822-1887) of Bangor Maine. Cf. The Native poets of Maine (Bangor : David Bugbee & Co., 1854), page 281-282.
