Summary
Clipping of A. France's column "La Vie litteraire," from the newspaper Le Temps, June 1, 1890, in which he speaks of the College de France and about James Darmesteter, a professor there (of Iranian languages) and author of Essais orientaux, Lettres sur l'Inde, and La Legende divine. France is a great admirer of Darmesteter and his ideas about bringing Judaism and Christianity together, the former being the mother and the latter being the daughter. "Everything in Christianity that comes in a direct line from Judaism still lives and will live on." (Darmesteter) Mention is also made of the English poet Mary Robinson, who is now married to Darmesteter.
