Summary
Explaining his move from San Francisco to Connecticut: "There are 1,000,000 critics here and very few artists"; discussing two new works: "I think you will be surprised with both of them--I really `went for it' and Boy oh Boy, they really feel good"; and illustrating the two works, Nowhere ("I think its quite elegant! Very structural too") and A little black case ("it's kind of a grim gym"). With a tirade against a critic: "Brian O'D*!! once wrote a review (he is a "CRITIC" [the word "CRITIC" underlined]) to the effect the pieces were jokes. He should know I am deadly serious and have never made a `joke' yet--For instance the `Walnut Box' [1964] was quite removed from being a mere joke--that box came right from my guts as have the ones I've done here. I wonder if he has ever gone into a gallery and picked up a piece and looked at the bottom of it or bothered to walk around behind a piece and study it."
