Text in full: "The misfortune of my present circumstances is I hope an (allowd) excuse for presuming to write to a person like you whom I have not the Honor to know. I have beggd Mr. Steele interest that I may be brought to a speedy examination; there is nothing I more earnestly desire; next to the power of Atonment for the offence I have unwarily given. / If submission & penitence carry but a shaddow of that weight below as we know they do above, I may not despair of finding Grace: At least there shall be nothing unattempted on my part to ?. / Consider Sir a fault arising neither from malice nor design but hear of Fancy alone the enthusiastick dreams of some lonly country hours, yet will I not pretend (with ? only to my intentions) to be wholly innocent since I am thought fitt to be condemn'd by you. I humbly beg a speedy hearing of your pardon for / your most obedient & most humble servt Dela Manley."
