Summary
Concerning the "Drummer of Tedworth," a ghost of a drummer long turned out of the house of Mr. Mompesson at Tedworth but whose drumming was still heard. Glanvill writes, "I perceive the story is not believed by the courtiers; And perhaps no evidence will convince them. I was last week with Dr. Charleson who laughes att the Notion of Spiritts, and particularly att this story. Which I some what wonder att in one that hath writte a booke of the Immortality. As for the story I told you att London, I know not what to think on't. The circumstances were strange ... ," but adds, "I should not be so incredulous, when a sober, credible person affirmes it ..."
