Summary
Reflecting on the death of W.H. Hudson; saying "I deeply feel for you, whose friendship was so much closer and constant (in point of time) than ours. We seldom saw dear Hudson but we always felt the same love for him, and I hope he knew it. No other personality of our time moved me to the same pitch of whole hearted admiration. I am very glad he went suddenly and in his sleep, and that he was happy when you last saw him. I am glad too he finished his book. There are very few people of whom it can be said they cannot be spared, but he was one - a voice that cannot be replaced, speaking the language of nature and beauty now almost unknown."
