Cullum lists the date of writing only as "Sat: Evening."
With a note on the verso in another hand: "Sir T.C. was so kind as to consult Mr. / Lathbury Curate of Livermere, a great / botanist & Insectologist, & he had nothing / to say on the subject."

Summary
Saying that he asked a friend more skilled than himself in the subject matter, but he is sorry that "I cannot inform you what is the Insect which is called the Gor-Fly;" sending detailed information about the "Turnip Fly," genus Chrysomela; discussing the genus and the species in it: "as the whole Genus of Chrysomela which consists of nearly 100 English species are said to be fond in general of the [Tetradynaminus?] Plants (of which Class Turnips are) I cannot determine which is the Turnip Fly, or rather Turnip-Flies, as undoubtedly there are several."
