Summary
Commenting on the Morgan Library manuscript of Dante Gabriel Rossetti's "The Blessed Damozel" (MA 1051); saying that it is "of the utmost interest, but it is not Rossetti's script in 1847, but a fair copy made by him for somebody perhaps years later"; explaining, based on Rossetti letters and manuscripts in his possession, how Rossetti's handwriting changed over the years; asking whether the Morgan Library owns other Rossetti manuscripts: "We have any amount here from 1870 onwards, but not much that is earlier. As you will have surmised, my own little private collection, though not extensive, is worthy of respect"; inviting his correspondent to "come and see the Brailes leaves in their setting here."
