Summary
Expressing her joy at receiving his letter and reading his name mentioned in "...Col. Abercrombie's account of some Battle - not one word of which did I understand but those concerning my dear George and the Phoenix;" relating, at length and in detail, news of various members of the family; saying she had a letter from friends who mentioned his "...dear Children as follows - 'I have seen your two nieces who are in health and very fine creatures, the Boy I have not yet seen as he is in the Country'. This was dated 11th of May - I am not a little pleased to have it in my power to send you this account as it so very rarely happens I [illegible] any of them. Tho no one can feel more anxious to do so than myself - Apropos of nieces, I have very lately the pleasure of receiving a very pretty well written letter from poor little Augusta to thank me for a few trifles I sent her by Mr. Alderson who was in London last month. I had then very pleasant accounts of her. Her Big namesake & Aunt writes to you at present so I shall say nothing of her or those belonging to her. Mrs. Leigh is still at Brompton. I blush to own I have not repeat'd my visit there. I have not had courage to do so. The disagreeable impression of the other not yet being effaced from my mind;" continuing to discuss, at length and in detail, family matters and news of friends.
