Thanking him for his congratulations; expressing dislike for Martin Green's book; saying "I had imagined he would produce a serious appreciation whereas I'm described as a la-di-da 'dandy' and I don't know what all;" thanking Brewer for his approval of his Nancy Mitford memoir saying "...no easy task to avoid libel and hurting people's feelings. (Palewski asked me not to mention his name)"; and noting a "flood" of published memoirs mentioning Peter Quennell, Tony Powell, Evelyn Waugh and Chris Hollis and saying "One begins to feel like a stuffed owl. However, there is so much to excite one's interest and curiosity, thank heaven."
