Thanking her for an anecdote about Hills's painting Hurricane; discussing her summer in Maine, where she and Miss Lewis explored, and the weather; expressing the depression of her spirits the war has caused; looking forward to spending time with her niece who is coming back from Colorado Springs to spend a few weeks with her in October; adding that Yehudi and Nola will be visiting her in November with their two babies; enclosing a letter from Nola telling about their South American tour and requesting that Hills send it back when she is finished; (in manuscript) referring to Yehudi Menuhin's experience on a bomber.
