Summary
Concerning a possible gift of letters by Knight to the British Museum; saying "I never was Keeper of the Manuscript Department, but I am sure that the letters would be very welcome there on the conditions you propose;" suggesting he write to the Director of the Museum, Sir Edward Maunde Thompson and explain in his letter "...how you came to have a right of property in the letters. I am not quite sure whether the Trustees will act merely on your representation, or whether they will require to have the letters before them, but of this Sir Edward will inform you;" expressing interest in Knight's book on Lord Monboddo, and quoting from Hogg's Life of Shelley on Monboddo.
